Varitone controls

Post by Reeltarded »

I want to add a lift pot to a varitone. What would be a good range? 100k or less?

Unsure :)

Something between 0Ω and ∞Ω.

You could grab a few resistors: "Does 1MΩ give normal-sound? Does 500kΩ give normal-sound? Does 100kΩ give normal-sound?"

You could also grab a 1MΩ pot and see what resistance finally seems to remove the Varitone's effect. This assumes you already have a 1MΩ pot on-hand (or maybe you have a 500kΩ from a guitar?).

The point of the above is to use an approach that hopefully uses some parts you already have laying around to avoid duplicate shipping charges (which will make repeat-orders of "cheap parts" turn into "an expensive process").

I can try a bunch of things. It will be switchable anyhow.
