Super cheap oscilloscope

Post by dragonbat13 »

Ive wanted a PC based scope for awhile. I can't afford much more than this right now. But somewhere I read it was an OK scope

Owon VDS1022I USB PC Virtual Oscilloscope, MIT USB Isolation, 25 MHz Analog Bandwidth https://a.co/d/04zzpqAq

Anyone know anything about it?

Even if I get it, I intend on getting something better as funds allow and I learn a scope. But at least with this I could learn a thing or two.

After doing some reading and reviews, I went ahead and bought it.

Hope it works well for tube amp work. It comes with a 10x probe. I will eventually get some better probes if necessary since I'll be able to use them with a different scope.

Well I FINALLY got an opportunity to use this thing. It works good.

For what I paid it's decent. The only thing I don't like is the fact the two USB ports are required to use it.

The probes are OK. Probably about as good as it can get for a 100 dollar scope.

Hopefully my amp building will crank up soon.

My next purchase is a bench top drill press for board construction.

Check the manual for the channel input voltage limit.
Might be only 50V.

I checked, it is 400Vpp for both DC and AC.

Do you mean 400Vp or 400Vpp?
A peak-to-peak specification would be unusual.
400Vp = 2 * 400Vpp.

Matthias Wandel has something interesting on a cheap scope...

With a sine signal 400Vpp equals 200Vp or 141Vrms.
Not sure what this mean for the DC limit.
