I've built 2 of these amps and they are pretty much my go to amp, pulling two 6L6s typically. The grounding path I used is like the original Fender layout except I mounted my caps on the back side like the '59 Bassman. Stone quiet amp. And when I say this, I think all this rhetoric about an altered grounding path (that can be so easily changed if you discover your *new* wheel layout isn't working) is pretty silly. Why waste your time talking about something that is so easily changed? Get on with the build, put your power cap ground joining wires on top of the board rather than underneath and experiment if you're inclined.

Beyond this, it was David Funk's insight that suggested using that Ground Switch as a option to attach a .05/600V poly cap to the POSITIVE line before it goes to the fuse, just in case you run into a hillbilly event where only a 2 prong AC receptacle is available. Something to think about.

Another suggestion, on the 8uf electrolytic mounted on the board for the preamp section, I use a 10uf/400VDC Solen Fast Cap (metalized poly) for two reasons: it's longevity and the sonic results in a circuit like this. It's simply a faster capacitor without any self generated sag. But remember that there is a direction to this cap.

Last suggestion, the J/J 6L6 in this amp had no competition, whether old or new tubes, 6L6 or EL34. They are unreal in this circuit. I buy the *double mica* type from Eurotubes in Oregon, but I don't know if there are other companies that sell this particular version. But do try them, you won't regret it, and you won't find anything that sounds better. Been there.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

I agree...went with Leo's scheme. Sorry to be a pain in the ass.
Any thoughts on this bias layout? Obviously haven't put in bias tap yet.
