Anyone here modded old WEM amps?
I've got a WEM Dominator MKIII chassis here that sounds great - I want to mod Channel 2 for more of a Marshall sound, and keep the original Channel 1 circuit for a cleaner Fender tone as per the MKIII schematic.
Anyone modded WEM Dominator MKIII's before?

Well changing that channel over to a cathode follower driven tone stack like a Marshall is big work!
I think I would check out the common Fender mod of making a normal channel from a blackface or silverface amp into a tweed channel do your driving the phase inverter with more mid's which is a big part of that Marshall sound.
With the tweed mod you will only have a volume and tone control so you may need to play around with the coupling cap to tune the channels bass responce to your liking and the average volume you play at.
The other thing that needs to be dealt with / tweaked is the drive level out of the moded circuit as it's much hotter due to the smaller signal loss of just having a tone control and not a full tone stack as in stock form.
This is a good mod for a beginner to learn with!
