I doubt that most people wound recommend a TW as a first build, but with the wealth of information and talent "in da house" on this forum, it worked out great for me :D A lot of very talented and generous people hang out here 8)

Thanks all...I guess the next step is to hit Moose up for some iron. I am not too sophisticated about electronics and I guess there is a question about the primary impedence. 6600 or 5200, that is the question. Whether it is nobler to suffer....oh well, you get the idea.

Depends on the amp and tastes. Try 'em and see what you like.

So your son is a lefty?

Oh yes he is. Does everything else right handed but plays left....go figure. I made him an SG with P90s that I wound myself and it rocks. Then for Christmas last year, I made him a Strat with the old style 70s headstock and a Floyd Rose Trem bridge. I wound the singles for that as well and gave it a custom Silver Burst finish. He loves them both and plays them like a pro. Makes me kinda sick

Good man, better sustain with the bigger head stock. My wife gave me something that says "Everyone is born right handed, only the gifted overcome it."

Well...I must say that rings true at my house. I can still whip his ass at amp buildin, but it is a coveted honor I may loose soon enough as well!!!

Savor the moment :!: :!:
What a lucky young man to have such a talented Dad 8) My Dad couldn't build guitars, but he did lay out $750 (over $4,000 in today's $$) in 1965 for a Gibson ES 335, and he was a traveling salesman. I hope he knows I continue to pursue the hobby he encouraged :D I'm sure your son appreciates the fact that you build 'em better than they come off the rack
