Plugging holes really depends on which way you go.
Which every way you go it's gonna be a let down to find a tube geek forum. And that after braving the malware death warning!

I forgot or better, just remembered. I think Steve H is the guy who machined a chassis out of a solid block or something like that. I think he can handle the holey part.

No love for Bud, huh? At around $20, don't raise your expectations too much. OTOH, the corners are welded!

Not above 18W. This is my 5F6A built before there was a Watts, or a Mojo, or anything other than Hammond and Bud. Notice the architectural reinforcements after it failed building code.

Ugh! The old saying, you get what you pay for, is true. Methinks the amount of iron I want to put on the deck of a Bud is excessive. I"ll be leaving room for structural reinforcements.

I didn't machine it out of a block. I cut up some structural channel. It will outlast the human race and the cockroach, but it's overkill, and you have to thin out bits of the underside of the chassis because some things won't work on 3/8"-thick aluminum.

Thanks for the welcome back.

I think Seaside would work, depending on what they charge.

I have some chassis on the way from Terry at Seaside.
I thought the prices were very reasonable, and they would be even more so, if you are paying in US dollars (The US dollar is buying close to $1.50 CDN these days...).

Any rough idea what a basic box about 20" long would go?

From Terry at Seaside:
17” x 7” x 2.5” in 14 gauge aluminum - $40 CDN ($28 USD?)

Shipping was reasonable (what I figure his cost would be plus a couple of bucks for the packing, no more). He can do 12 gauge for a few dollars more.
Bottom panel/plate was $8.

I bought fromTerry, and am quite happy.
I think you Yanks, should by from Seaside, as our Canadian dollar is floating around 70cents on your dollar

Unfortunately, everything I need is in the US and will have to wait awhile, could be a long while....

Oh well, cheers

I didn't see this earlier... But if it is no too late to help or maybe for future reference, I have a lot of inventory and can get custom boxes made to any size and will typically offer them to anyone who is active on any DIY amp forum for a few dollars less than you'll find them otherwise. rj

It is definitely not too late. It may be weeks before my friend actually does something.
