Right...should of known...thanks!

On a dc30 the part that lights up is well below the chassis, though, so how would lights in the chassis light up the "matchless" logo? The matchless is tubes-down and I don't see any holes that would allow light from inside of the chassis to illuminate the logo.BBQLS1 wrote:To light up the "MATCHLESS" logo?Tubetwang wrote:Whoaaa!!!

The control panel is back-lit.

That's a cool visual effect, but how much extra heat is produced INSIDE the chassisbrownnote wrote:The control panel is back-lit.

Not enough to bother the amp. DC30s are supposed to be very reliable and toneful amps. I don't own one, but I like them.drhulsey wrote:That's a cool visual effect, but how much extra heat is produced INSIDE the chassisbrownnote wrote:The control panel is back-lit.

PTP/terminal strip construction is a work of art, take a closer look they're not just dumped in.BBQLS1 wrote:Oh, here is the DC-30 pic I had found. Just dump a box of parts in!

The pilot lamps inside the chassis serve two purposes, 1) provide light for the back-lit logos and 2) to get even heat inside the chassis and get the warm air circulating out of the chassis.

I've repaired and rebuilt a couple of true PTP amps and sometimes they just make more sense than boards. The DC30 seems somewhat sensible and somethings not. There just seems to be too much stuff in there
I like simple amps for many reasons.

My first impression is there's lots of work there, from someone with lots of experience and knowledge...
Nice job indeed.
Being from the school of... "i'll build anything as long as there's a good layout provided"...i don't think that i will build one of those anytime soon.

I'll try to get to clips done this weekend. That way I can finally out myself as a horrible guitarist with killer gear.

I have some M-Audio driver issues and software to reinstall after a recent 'puter upgrade sent things wacky.
