D44 ?

Post by Johnhenry »

I'm starting on my First Build from info i've gathered up from reading all the good post's on this Forum,
My Thank's to all who contributed on the great sounding Dlite Build's.
What i need is : some input, Idea's, on my Rectifier !
My Question would be : has anyone used the new fast recovery diode's in thier Dlite type build's, i've got the 1N4007's, but if the Fred's work better i will go get some to put in my build !
Thank's in Advance,
Johnhenry

The Metro amps forum has a couple interesting threads with
comparison clips of Freds vs UF4007 vs 1N4007.
Same head , same player etc.

Some will tell you they can't hear the difference
but with the amp pushed and the power supply getting into
the act it's not hard to prefer one over the other.

Thank's Jurgen, i'll take a look, sound's like the freds would be good for a Dumble style amp, where your not lookin for sag in the power supply, i've never used the fast recovery's so i think i will give them a try,

Then again they may not make much difference at all especially
with the later 'precision' supply.

However the D'lite is a slightly different animal though, the 22 in particular
