Zener Diode to RAISE B+?

Post by MarshallPlexi »

If we can use a reverse biased zener to lower B+ with connected to the CT of the B+ winding, is the inverse true that we can use a positive biased zener to RAISE the B+ voltage?

I have a PT that puts out 400V and I need 450V that's why I ask. ;)

Um, nope. That would be a nifty magic trick, though!

If that could be done then utility company's would have diodes made the size of a city block so they could durive something for nothing and still charge you for it!

You could raise voltage if you were using a tube rectifier (switch to SS) or a choke input (switch to resistor).
