It looks to me to be an early white Fender Twin Amp. I used to own a Twin like that and I still have an early Brown Super Amp and that's what the Vibrato sounds like.

I'm also thinking he's using some sort of overdrive pedal. They aren't playing that loud and those Twins stay really clean until it's way loud.

Hell yes it's a white Twin! Couldn't get to the video before.

Yep. That is the amp. That is what they sound like. There it is. Freaking awesome.

61 Brownface Twin -- I think played on the vibrato channel with the vibrato engaged. In the Waits Letterman video there appears to be something on top of the amp which might be a pedal but not sure. The switch by his foot is the vibrato switch.

The white early Bandmaster heads sound similar.

There were actually two versions of the White Twin, with a bit different tone control designs. The 6G8 had more of a Baxandal design and the 6G8-A is more like the normal channel of the 6G6-B Bassman which evolved into the Blackface era tone controls.

Here's a link to the 6G8-A

For a 2-6L6 idea, check out the Super 6G4-A:

Maybe something like a 6G4-A Super in a 2-12 cab instead of 2-10's might be fun...

Seems the fender looking switcher on stage with him might be used to engage a pedal and not necessarily the amp vibrato (which seems to be on the whole time.)

thanks again LDC!!! thats awesome and perfect!

wow! all youse guise have been so helpful! thank you so much :D :D

all this info in one place for me to reference laterz, not in an 'amp building' friendly location, temporarily staying with friends and everything is boxed up... kinda feel like i took a step backwards... BUT, i am jazzed that i KNOW what i am building next, usually i flip and flop, but im stuck on flop right now, bearing obtained. THANKS!!!
