I've been thinking about building a Fender champ and was looking at the Hammond 291AX power transformer. This transformer is made for the Champ but I'm confused about why the High Voltage secondary is 650 Volts. This will result in too much DC for the 12AX7 and 6V6 in the Champ (looking at the SF1 schematic). Anyone know what Champ version this transformer is intended for?... or what I'm missing?
Thanks

Re: Fender Champ replacement transformer
The HV 650 VAC secondary has a center tap intended for use with a full wave rectifier...the voltage from the CT to either of the other terminals would read about 325VAC.

Re: Fender Champ replacement transformer
I have built a few with the mojotone OT that has both 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps which gives ya a ton more speaker options!
Also 200 ma is a ton of current for just a 6 watt or so amp, that would work fine for a PP 6v6 25 watt amp!
