Silvertone 1482

Post by rmroza »

Anyone have or know where I can find a layout for this amp? I'd like to build one up, don't want a rats nest and PTP and also don't want to recreate the wheel! Thanks in advance.

I suspect it wouldn't be too hard to use a 5E3 layout and transpose this over. It's a kissing cousin IMO.
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

The 1482 and 5E3 may be viewed as cousins by some, but they ain't the same animal IMO. Very different amps. The 5E3 wins by a mile for me.

Maybe so, but the vibrato on the Silvertone is better.

I had a chance to play my '65 today. I absolutely love these things, despite their extremely low output. They do saturate very well due to the low plates. I don't hate the trem either. Better than the blackface roach circuit, but still not near as good as harmonic or bias vary.

OK, here are a schematic and layout. I am attaching the ExpressSCH editable versions also.

So, ..... IF there is an error, rather then simply pointing out the errors, please feel free to edit it and repost a corrected version.

I don't plan on building this, so I am simply doing this to help repay the generousity of this forum.

10thtx thanks for the layout makes it easier on us lazy guys but I like PTP on amps like this. :)

 You just don't understand how stupid I am I can't do anything in .sch I tried.

Need to get DaGeezer working on a PTP layout for us, he enjoys PTP like I do. :)

I had a Dano Centurian which was pretty much the same amp as the Silvertone with a few exceptions (mostly tone stack & goofy piezo reverb).

I removed the piezo reverb and did a one tube reverb. It worked great. However, it was NOT surfy type reverb and was sort of a "set and forget" type reverb. It added a nice fullness to the amp.

This schematic is close to the successful reverb addition that I did. As a side note, I have done this on maybe 5 different amps with similar topology to the Silvertone 1482 & it always worked out for me.

thanks 10th

i have a sickone for free and unlike mike, i hate ptp and speghetti. i like the layout n layouts in general on turrentboards. ...no issues, just personal preference.

anyway, going to rebuild,on a nice board with new vintage components! ;-)

i'll go threw it later this week...been feeling jnder the weather n summer cold or something.
