Hey everyone!
Ive completed a Naylor SD 60 build and am having some issues with the power section. When I flip to standby, everything is fine - proper voltages in the bias circuit and heater circuit with a healthy glow in the pilot light. However when I flip to On, the pilot light dims and the 3 amp mains fuse blows almost immediately. There are no tubes installed and i have pulled the HT fuse to isolate just the diode rectifier, and the first bank of 220uF caps. the caps are fine and will charge up for the second that it remains on. The on switch in this build refers the full bridge rectifier to ground. Ive checked everything but the same problem remains. The PT checks out when resistance tested with my multimeter.
Any thoughts? I'm really hoping someone can help me with this.

I'll state the obvious -- what you already know. You have an unintended ground that is making a short, or some other short. If you can't see anything else, make sure your rectifier is wired properly. If you are using solid state diodes, it is one of these:

If you have a center tap, you don't use it with a full wave bridge. If you have a full wave (no bridge) make sure you deploy the CT correctly.
So, this is a shot in the dark. Post pictures of the build if this isn't it.

Thanks for the reply! I isolated the center tap and all is well. It was grounded between the the two 220uF caps like the PT manufacturer instructed but was obviously shorting to ground. Silly Me!
