Re: Fried Power Tranny
Can you give us a voltage check on the B+ and the plates of the preamp and phase inverter?

Re: Fried Power Tranny
Sounds like a peppy little amp. You can try this little gain mod (actally, an attenuator) and see if it does the trick:DFMoore wrote:Ok, new power transformer and new diodes and she is singing. It, however, is only clean at 1 anything more is very distorted. Any ideas?

I tried it on a small EL84 SE, as it had considerable gain. Tamed it right down to clean, up to about 3/4 volume. The attenuator is the pot with the 22K resistor to ground. Connect it right to your volume pot, like the drawing shows.

After setting he project down for a while, because of work getting in the way, I tried the attenuator, It helped a little. I'm still not 100% happy with it. My multi-meter crapped out on me, as soon as get a new one I'll compare the voltages with the Eagle I built last year and copied for this project. I did however moved on to the cab, my first attempt at dovetails.

Well it sounds like you are most of the way there.
Just to add my 2 cents, I don't like to see ground terminals on the circuit board mounting screws.
Much safer to have the on there own screw and lock nut down on the chassis floor.

Ok, After going back over it I found a wrong Ohm resister. Still tweaking the tone control.
