Anyone with experience of the Trinity amps TC-15?

Post by arjepsen »

I've been trying to decide what to build with the current parts I have on hand:
18watt OT from OGWP, old radio 290-0-290 V PT, choke, ez80/81 rectifier.
It's gonna be 2xel84, and I would also like to go for an ef86 front end.
If I understand correctly, the TC-15 is kindof a mix of marshall 18watt, and a 2xel84 ac30, right?

I guess I'm kinda aiming in between a voxish/matchless and a marshallish sound. I like both their dirty sounds, and would like it to be able to give quite a bit of crunch and dirt, but would also like to have a bit of clean availabe.
Most of all, I'd like to it handle pedals well.

My searches around did turn up the 65 amps London a few times, so I also wonder if anyone had any experience on their sound compared?

I've built the Tramp from a kit I bought from them, and also built their Lightning project amp:

Which is their take on the Matchless Lightning. Sorry, but I've never heard the TC-15, but have heard great things about it. Their products appear to be very good from my 2 experiences with them.

I've built a few TC-15s, they're great amps. Sort of half of a DC-30. Not a lot of clean on tap unless you're using single coils - I have found my London build to have a bit more clean in the EF86 channel. The TC-15 EF86 channels definitely has more grind. Everything's tweakable of course, but I keep both for different applications. The TC-15 12ax7 channel isn't really marshall, but with a few tweaks it can be. There are a few posts in their forum on how to take it into more of a marshall territory.

Here is my last TC-15 build
