toggle switches keep breaking

Post by pula58 »

My buddy has Fuchs Mod amp (Deluxe reverb was its original incarnation). He keeps breaking-off the toggles from the toggle swicthes (rock/jazz, mid, brite). Not the amps fault...IN any case, Does anyone know of some mini toggle switches with very very short toggles? Perhaps a short toggle would be less susceptible to being snapped-off

Much obliged,

P.

Man, that guy must really man handle those toggle bats to snap them off.

The worse problem I have is melting them when soldering to them.

I have broke one before on a Rocket build I just figured it was a cheap bad switch

Steve at Apexjr.com stocks those mini switches too.

I know it's heresy, but maybe it's time to consider changing to a rocker type switch, where nothing sticks out!

I had a toggle on the back of an amp head that kept getting broken in transport.

I took a dremel tool cutting wheel and just shortened the toggle . Worked fine after that with no issues.

Now that you put it in context, I can see doing this. It's just that the sliders have such a cheezy feel to them.

 You calling me a Cheezball Phil! I actually like those old switches mostly because they are much higher quality and easy to solder to. They come in a variety of types DPDT, SPST, etc. Not as convenient as flipping a toggle switch on the fly but will not break off mid show.

Is there a source for new Fender style slider switches with other varients (like DPDT for example) ?
