I have a VVR now that scales the whole amp and am considering scaling only the power section at this point instead to see if I hear the difference.
Can I leave the two caps/1M resistors on the input and first gain pot or do I need to remove those?
The decision to mod would be much easier if I can leave those extra passives in there. I'm going to swap a couple resistors in there tonight so knowing my options on this today would be nice. TIA

Re: VVR question
You can leave them.
If you decide to leave it once you make the change I'd probably pull them out..just 'cause.

How does the whole amp scaled vs power amp only sound?surfsup wrote:I have a VVR now that scales the whole amp and am considering scaling only the power section at this point instead to see if I hear the difference.
Thanks
Re: VVR question
I removed the VVR due to some oscillation, but am thinking about bringing it back in there. Not sure yet...
Re: VVR question
I like scaling just the power amp best (power tube and PI) because you can get way lower in volume before significant tonal change compared to scaling the whole amp. I don't really notice increased drive to the PI too much, but that really depends on the amp's PI design.
