Bash Bogen Power Supply

Post by zzallin »

I'm in the process of building this amp. I finished the power supply wanted to check if I'm getting the right voltages out it. The A, B, C and D voltages are all around 447 volts. Should the voltages be around the same value if there is no load hooked up?

Thanks,
Zack

All you have is the lower portion of the schematic? There is no load, so no current is passing. Voltage will not drop until there is a load.

You could tack in a bleeder from point D to ground to simulate some loading.
It might also prevent overvoltage on the C and D filter caps depending on their rating.

The filter caps will hold a charge for quite a while with no bleeder, which I think is a modern safety requirement on commercial designs.
