In some of the reference materials I see "heavy buss wire" used for grounding, etc. What size wire would be appropriate for this use? I imagine that this is a solid wire?
Speaker wires ... what size should be used?
Thanks,
Chris

Buss Wire and speaker wire
Buss wire is traditionally single strand bare solid copper, but it doesn't have to be. In my amps I use 18 ga. stranded teflon insulated between stars in a galactic ground, and also from the final star to chassis. 18 ga. can handle 6 amps comfortably, which ought to cover anything going South in the average guitar amp.
Speaker wire--50W or less I use 16 ga. lampwire in combos (short length). Typically you're looking at 3-4 amps or so max, and 16 ga. is safe. In wiring a 4x12 half stack I use 12 ga. wire, even if the speakers' total rated load is only 100W, because there's a lot more wire involved and you don't need any more added resistance between OT and voice coil than is absolutely necessary.
