Schematic for Bill M Blues Jr Presence Control?

Post by The New Steve H »

I want to add a Bill M presence control to my Blues Jr, but I can't find any schematics (for the control, not the amp). My amp is the old version; I got it in 1997. Does anyone know what's in the control? Thanks.

Replace R25 on Cream board with a 10k pot
r26 on green board

I tried it and ended up just removing the negative feedback all together

It sounds great with the cathode follower mod

I also went cathode bias and added vvr
whole new amp

Thanks for the help. I thought the little MP3s he had on his site sounded nice, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Here's something that surprised me. I have a Ragin' Cajun speaker in my little Vox amp, which I use as a cab for my 5F6A head, and I love it. I decided to try one in the Blues Jr., and it seems like the stock speaker suits it a little better.

I put a 12AY7 in V1, and I thought it improved the amp, but today I replaced the other 12A tubes with Svetlanas, and after that, the amp actually seemed to sound better with a 12AX7 in V1. Go figure. I also replaced the old Sovtek EL84s with JJs. I've read that a lot of people consider this a waste of time, but the amp did sound better. Maybe the Sovteks were just getting old, though.

Wondering what a 12AT7 in V1 would be like.
