Paralleling Heater Taps
I have a transformer that two 6.3 non center tapped lines. Can I just connect them together to get more capacity?
Re: Paralleling Heater Taps
I'm not real sure but there may be phasing issues doing that.
Hopefully somebody that knows for sure will answer.

Re: Paralleling Heater Taps
They have to be in phase. If the leads are color coded and you have a transformer diagram from the manufacturer, the leads marked with a dot on the diagram are in phase. Connect those two together and the other two together to get double the current at the same voltage. If you connect the bottom of one winding to the top of the second one (in series), you wind up with double the voltage at half the current. Be sure you know which leads are which.
