Thank you for that I hadn't thought to look...

something interesting, when 1vac was applied with only the first stage bypassed
the result was pretty close to the last data, 1.14 vac

when both where bypassed the signal present at the inverting grid dropped to 0.85 vac.

the tone seemed closer to the single unbypassed cathode resistor,
a bit more blur and more gain.

simple circuit with a lot of options
