Gretsch output jack

Post by angelodp »

I have a nice old Gretsch Nashville guitar. The output jack is a 12A shorting jack. Its been making funny noises at the jack. I have it apart, it does not make any noise when removed from the body and connected to the amp via the back plate ( removed ) hole. Cord is good, jack connections seem ok. But.... the 12A is missing the shunt blade for the shorting tab, the one that sits next to the main tip blade and gets pushed away when engaged. Is this a normal Gretsch 'thing' or has that blade fallen away and I need a new 12A? Must be that?

Yep.... new one in and after 47 years this old Gretsch is still making great sounds.
