I don't know very much about electronics and need some help. I'm trying to replace a component in a speaker crossover. It is about 1.5 inches long, blue in color. Printed on it is Mallory 22mf 75 VNP. It also has 00517-1080187 and 235-8129E.
Can anybody tell me what this is, where I could get it, and what to ask for? I figured that this would be the right place to go for this information - thank you!!!!!

Ask for a 22 microfarad capacitor. 75 volts, non-polarized.
Re: Need help with a part
It's a 22 microfarad, 75 volt, non-polarized electrolytic capacitor. If you have a local electronics parts supply they might have it. Another option would be to parallel two of these which are found at Radio shack.

Thanks for your help with this. I'm fine with a soldering iron so once I find it should be no problem!!

Re: Need help with a part
If you are making an npo with value C from two polarized electrolytics, you need to connect two caps with value 2 x C in *series*. Connect the two (-) sides together and connect the (+) leads to your circuit or connect the two (+) sides of the cap together and connect the (-) leads to your circuit and you are in business.ToneMerc wrote:It's a 22 microfarad, 75 volt, non-polarized electrolytic capacitor. Re: Need help with a part
Another question on this. I can find 22uF, non polarized, but not 75v. The ones I'm finding are 100v. Can I use these instead of 75v ?
Re: Need help with a part
Yes, the only problem with higher voltage ratings is it usually means the cap is a larger physical size.
