Vibrolux Reverb

Post by angelodp »

Anyone know if the re-issue Vibrolux reverb amps ( 10 years old ) are point to point or PCB.

I've worked on a re-issue Twin, and a re-issue Deluxe Reverb and both were PCB. I'm assuming the Vibrolux is as well.

Worked on a couple of RI Vibrolux Reverbs over the last few years for warranty service, they were both PCB.

PCB
- Shotty wave soldering. I've had a half dozen on the bench that needed the board to be resoldered. I even had one that had an octal socket that was never soldered. Just holding on by pressure. Really dissapointing build quality IMHO.

If you are talking about the Custom Vibrolux reverb, they have dual pots wired in parallel. But they still crap out regularly. I always replace them with standard single CTS pots. at least the pots are not directly soldered to the pcb.

I've had a few dozen Reissue fender PCB with that issue cross the bench.

easy fix.
test the tubes if you can replace them with know good tubes.
if they test good and the noise is still a problem.
open up the amp
make it safe to work on.
resolder every point and connection in the amp. I'm not joking!
make sure every nut and bolt is snug tight, even on the iron.

close it up .. good as new.
