Is It Ok To Do This?

I drew this real fast, hopefully it's not wrong, mis-drawn, or confusing. I'd like to avoid an extra terminal for the 6SJ7 plate and g2 resistors. This seems fine looking at the schematic but it just seems really weird tying these resistors at the screen grid / pin 4 on the 6V6. Am I good?

Looks good to me rp. Cover the lead on the 2M crossing the 6SJ7 socket, just to be safe.

Doing PTP and literally laying out the schematic is usually enlightening, like messing around on a piano and seeing where the chords actually come from, but sometimes the directness of it looks odd.

Thanks, reminds me I'm running out of the clear ptfe tubing I use. God knows where I originally got it? Hope I got enough for a little Champ.

Time do a 'mise en place' (I used to cook) before I start this.

You can use stripped insulation for that or small heat shrink tubing.

Years ago they sold a product we called spaghetti (slang) which was a woven cloth tubing for insulating components leads in point to point wiring.

I have two assorted bundles of that stuff I got from AES some 20 years ago. I used up all the real skinny stuff and now just prefer the ptfe, but for this champ the cloth would look righteous. Must dig them up and see what's left. AES used to stock it as Spaghetti Tubing.

Share and share alike. Have no fear I'll show it off when I'm done and I'll post my complete drawing if you like, but let's make sure it all works first. Hope my first octal doesn't hum. And I really hope the Edcor OT doesn't sound too hifi. That has me so worried I'm not going to drill the chassis for it till after I build it and try it.

I never worry about transformers being too hifi, I prefer old hifi transformers when I can find em.

The edcor hifi stuff sounds great for guitar amps wouldn't worry your self!

I'm thinking about building up a Super Reverb chassis I have using the Edcor stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing how it will all turn out!

The best sounding Super Reverbs I've ever had/played were all '65, and were super touch sensitive, and a bit hi-fi.

I really like the Edcor product line and have used them from low powered to 100w Rocket builds. They seem to bring out the total tone spectrum to my ears. Brian and Phyllis are easy to work with as well.

I'm worried cause I'm building this amp with looks as the #1 priority, something that has burned me in the past. I'm violating a lesson learned: make it look nice but don't build for looks!

Also, not so much worried about the Edcor itself as about using such an over-spec'd part. The tone of Champs and Deluxes seem in part to be about very under-rated OTs. I did try the same Edcor in an AX84P1 and it was excellent, just slew the Triode Champ one it had before. My 5F1 has the Allen Champ OT that is also big and overrated and it too sounds killer. But I once put a very fancy Audio Note in an AC-10 clone and that was not so killer. I also used to grab mauled amps out of pawn shops that often had the OT's replaced with some giant Hammond - not so great either, always better after restoration.

On the other hand this 5C1 is just a head and I want this little amp to play well with 12"s which is why I went w/ the Edcor and it's extra bandwidth, besides it's great looks.

BTW an other reason too for the Edcor: there are few 6-10W 5K units out there. The Allen is 8K, I now prefer it at 4K after people here recommend 5K for champs; the Triode champ one I found dull and muddy; the Mojo, AES, etc are 7K; the Hammond universal has exposed tabs and not good for what I'm doing. There is only Musical Power Supplies on ebay that's 5k & 7K but I'd like bells for this project. If I don't like the Edcor I'm forced to have Heyboer build me one like the Allen but at 5K. That's more $ and a big delay. Keeping my fingers crossed on the Edcor.

Just repainted the bells on it and the Hammond PT w/ hunter green engine paint. Just waiting on AES / UPS.
