Technical questions--need help

You're talking LTP, right? If so, look at the right hand triode as common/grounded grid amplifier i.e. its input is the cathode. Put a cap from the cathode to ground and you effectively shunt it to gnd. The result will be a straight forward common cathode gain stage on the left triode. The right side triode will just idle away sleeping peacefully.

Bob-I: LTP has gain, between 26 and 30db of it. Split load or Cencertina PI has 0db gain by virtue of design.

Skyboltone asked "Got an example" the answer is "yes" examine any B.F. , or S.F. Fender which uses P.P. output stage adnthere you will fin d an example of the "LTP" P.I.. Para-phase and Concertina P.I.s were used in most Fenders prior to the BF.s.-

Just ask the guys over at E.H.-they just spent MEGA-BUCKS setting up their vacuum drawing equipment for their tube mfg. division. I started to get into the vacuum vs noo vacuumvs partial vacuum discussion, thendecided I didn't enjoy typing all that much.My eng degree came many years back, also. Fresno state university and Cal- Poly with a stint at H.P. and one at Motorola's R.T. and Paging div's. If we get stumped on something I think there is enough sheepskin on this forum to be able to cover the issue. I enjoy the threads-keep up the good work, Omar........... Martin

Thanks. Aiken is pretty good at making it intelligible to mortals like me. I should really read more from the site. I had been puzzled about the differences between the PI in (say) the 5E3 and the AB763 but more to the point why?

Anyway I studied the wrong books in college. My degree is in English Literature. That's why I ended up taking orders from you guys all my life. Electrician, industrial process control, many venues including the petroleum industry.

Remind me sometime to tell some of my engineer stories. Sometimes the only thing worse than an engineer is two of them.
