DiademRoyale, you're a life saver. I checked the data sheet and make some adjustments. First off the triode section, I lowered Rk to 1.5k, then on the pentode side I lowered Rk to 47R. The arcing is gone and the reverb is even deeper.

I guess you missed my post about the bad tube in V1 causing the hum. The amp is now reasonably quiet for a big loud gainy amp.

Missed the pin out...I'll shoot myself with a bow and arrow.
47 Ohm cathode resistor for ECL86 pentode seems rather low, standard datasheet says 170 to 270 with 250V on anode, with 350V it should to be in 330 ohm range.

Yes, you're right. I looked at the specs for 250V. I just upped it, the tube was redplating.

Bob I-- Been making the same old mistakes myself for around 40 years- they bought me books and sent me to school, and I'm still not worth the powder to blow me to *e*l. Every once in awhile I get it right though. Glad I could help. By the way- did you check out the similarity in the amp you are building and the name of my business? Food for thought......Diadem Royale.. Martin Watts.... Truly happy I could help with it.
