Channel Mixing

Anybody here willing to check this out? I've built this amp before (sans the dual EQ stages), but was wondering about using a MIX control between the clean and OD signals rather than the usual relay.

The control is in the center top of the page L to R, and shows a dual ganged pot. Does this look workable? If so, would an audio taper pot be correct?

You can use a standard potentiometer as a blending pot. You may have phase issues when combining the two EQ's or channels. If one is 180 degrees out it will need a booster to not be cancelled out. if they are both in phase the center position will increase in volume.

I'm not sure of how useful two eq's that blend are? blending is used in a hi boost and low boost to give some control over the midrange.

Feed both ch. or EQ's as if the relay was triggered, then route the outputs to the pot ch1 to leg 1 / ch 2 to leg 3 the signal blends out of the wiper 2 continue to the circuit.

Thank you! I believe the stages are the same so there should be no cancellation.

And, you've got a point about blending them. I can't think of an amp I've played that has that feature, I just thought it might be an interesting sound.

As simple as that is I think I'll just tack it in when I get the amp build to that point, and hear the results.

I've seen this done before in an O'Brian 4x10 amp. In addition to having the blend he put it on a pedal so you could blend them while playing.

Honestly, as cool of an idea as it was, the O'Brian OD wasn't all that great so the blend had little use. I found the amp had a great clean tone, big and fat, loud and clean, but the OD was a tad harsh. I preferred to use a Zen with it.

I'll be interested in how this works out.
