Hello everyone
I am going on vacation next weekend and I have a 12 hour car ride, so I would like to have some good amp reading material
I understand how an amp functions and all that good stuff, and I've made some mods and built pedals. Still, I want to learn more about guitar tube amps, there's still some questions I have
I own and have read "The guitar amp handbook" good stuff!
I am really intersted in building and such, so I'm thinking this one
http://www.amazon.com/Building-Valve-Am ... 184&sr=1-3
Or this one seems interesting
http://www.amazon.com/Tube-Talk-Guitari ... 265&sr=8-5
Any other suggestions??
Thanks everyone! Have a great weekend!

No contest--read Morgan's book.
Opinions vary about Gerald Weber, just search this forum for his name.

Re: Suggest me a book
Gerald Weber is an easy read. All four of his books cover a lot of the same information and they are not well organized, so you need to have some tape flags handy if you want to find stuff again and put it to practice. Not a bad jumping off point to experiment, but could use better diagrams and more technical backup in a lot of areas.
Kevin O' Connor is very in depth and really technical, but has a lot of good stuff. If I didn't have to work for a living and had more time to play with amps, I could absorb more of it.
Randall Aiken has a lot of great information on his site and is well respected on the forums. http://www.aikenamps.com/
Hmmm, maybe I need to do a little more reading myself...

I'm REALLY enjoying this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Designing-Tube-Pr ... 0956154506
covers a lot of ground and even a semi-novice like myself can grab 95% of what he's talkin about.

Re: Suggest me a book
Yeah, get Merlin's book. It is targeted at us, not the hi-fi crowd, and so it is very much on topic. The material is very accessible, too. Some experience with amps is good to have, and then he'll bring you along very quickly.

Re: Suggest me a book
I have read good comments about Merlin's book on the forums. Now that I am (semi) between projects, it is a good time to study up. I just put mine on order.
