The wal-mart price point should tell you a lot.
Would it be any better if it was a fender?
Its like doing a gig for $20..... if your not charging scale your hurting not only
yourself but everyone around you too. We seem to represent a community,
that if we had a market, would rise to the markets demands and be a very
diverse group of artisans and manufacturers, think about it. The man blew
two bills on garbage. He chose not to spend $500 on a better product.
He hurt you, and rubbed it your face, and now your providing an advertising
venue for a product that under cuts all of us. THINK....

Revenge Lil Rock 5 watt tube head

Post by glp »

Hey Wayne, Greg here from Recycled Sound/REVENGE Amps. I noticed your posts here. I am having a little trouble with what the BIG DEAL is with an amp made in China? Guess if it's the USA thing I understand. On the other hand if it's something else...... Anyway,
thought I'd pass along a little info: First, we did indeed start out by trying to get enough guys together to make it cost effective to ship some over. Well that didn't work out and as I played with my samples, I thought it MORE important to just go ahead and get them over here. As you can see from my website, I also hand wire my own version of a 2xEL84 amp right here in the USA. By rights my amps should sell for $1100, plus a cab....... I have been selling them for $599 - totally hand made. I am NOT into dealer sales as I do all the work, they make all the money. Thats why I sell direct for $599 (or $699 depending on the cab available to me).

Same gig with the Lil Rock. I thought it a GREAT way to get a decent TUBE amp into the hands of players. If you get a chance look inside your buddies - our customer. Decent components, poly caps, metal oxide resistors, a TOROID transformer! Not bad stuff!

I have found the SQUEAL too, so now I correct EACH one prior to shipping. (The output was too close to the input - a pretty simple fix). My guys in China, will make ANYTHING I ask them too and will use my layouts! The 30 watt I am about to sell has a BUNCH of features and will be UNDER $450 with footswitchable boost, Reverb, just a cool amp for the money.

So I really just want to say - no RIP intended, no HUGE profits, just ALL TUBE amps for those who don't have a lot of money. Just the way I've done it since 1991.
