124 Layout Revised

Post by talbany »

Here is the layout of #124 thanks to ic-racer and Martin for getting it going..Be glad to revise if you see any mistakes.. The boards should be to scale and the wire color as close as I could get it..

Looks great.....

Only thing is the OD input network. #124 had a 220K feeding a 345K (measured..I think that was the size) trimmer. 120K into 500K is 620K. If I were to err on the size of the load, I'd err to the lower side. Since you have done such an exacting job, I thought it should read 345K.

Maybe using a 300K resistor feeding a 250K pot would be more ideal....

That looks great. The proverbial presence pot doesn't look as though it is grounded on the real thing.

Thanks Guy's Updated...

I Took Martin's board.. JPG to save some time but it's hard to edit it..Modified and scaled it in Photoshop.. did a few things in Autocad..But
the bulk was done in Visio 2005.. anyone see anything else.. when we finish it I'll post the Visio.. Thanks

I drew the main (preamp) board in PowerPoint. JPEG is the easiest/best way to post for me. If there is a better format, or you want me to alter it I can do that.

Okay, I fixed up the OD input trimmer in the main board layout and re-posted in the "#124 Main Board Layout" thread. It's now labeled 346K (I rounded so it would fit). If it would help, I can route the control-side wires through the appropriate holes.

Now, the fixed resistor... It is very hard to tell if it is red red yellow (220K) or brown red yellow (120K) in the photos. ic-racer calls it 220K in the latest schematic (v 1.6), but in the photo of the notebook page with the drawing of the board it says it's 120K. I lean toward 120K...

What's the consensus?

Gill posted a good picture a while back showing clearly 220k. (ie it was a better picture, and different than the public domain #124 pictures).

First off: Excellent work!!!!

Just a few little details to match the #124 pictures:

For the FET board, I had posted a more realistic one with the copper traces, I don't know if you saw that (should have two 8k2 resistors).
The resistor on the bias 10k pot should be 27k (instead of 10k).
The last dropping resistor is 2k2 (instead of 1k)
6L6 Grid Resistor color code is actually 5k1 (instead of 5k0)
The diode following the two 10ks on the 'half-power' switch should be a LED.
The holes for the two 1K LED/power resistors should be lined up.
I think the heater resistors are 120r (instead of 100r)
Mid boost cap is 300p (instead of 330p).
Effects send/return should have a 250p (instead of 270p).
Jazz/rock switch looks like two .01uf in series (instead of .0047uf)
Preamp tube sockets should be rotated 180 degrees.

Again, overall it is great!

Post your fet board here please I couldn't find it.. If it's to scale Ill paste it and wire it up.. Also you lost me on the
"The holes for the two 1K LED/power resistors should be lined up"
You talking about the power supply for the foot switch?
Don't really have the time right now to change the sockets around.. Maybe get to it later or if someone else wants to do it I'll post the Visio..
Great job with the details...

Then 220K it is.

Here is the FET, but now that I see it again I realize I need to add the case ground for the FET component: https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=5311

These power supply boards are a little closer to the pictures: https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=5351

I'm sure if you post the Visio others can fine tune things. I'd like to work on it, but I don't have Visio for the Mac.
