Gregor Hilden is using a original Dumble Overdrive Special 100 Watt Top in The Studio on his new record "Blue In Red" - all solos played with the Dumble (just released, April 2008). Lead Guitar is the 1968 converted Gibson Les Paul Std. with PAFs.
Please note: this is just a playback Movie - done to the final mix - not live playing. Please check out more free audio soundfiles from the CD "Blue In Red"

So, is this really Gregor Hilden posting this? If so, I'm a big fan of yours ;)

I'm curious, is the Vibrolux stock?

Mark.

Hi Mark, thanks, yes the Vibrolux is a stock 1968. I used it for some Rhythm Guitar Parts on this Album. All the best from Germany, Gregor (www.gregorhilden.de)

Hi Gregor,

Thanks for the information. I've always been impressed by your tone, and especially like the tone in this clip. I realize a lot is in the hands of the guitarist, but I'm trying to better understand the Dumble clone I recently built. If you don't mind, can I ask a few questions about the setup of the Dumble for the video clip?

I play a Les Paul Classic (which I just bought from Dave's Guitar in La Crosse, by the way), so my pickups are different from yours, but can you tell me how you had the controls set on the Dumble? Also, I notice you're playing the neck pickup -- do you remember where the volume/tone controls were on the guitar?

Best Regards,

Mark

PS - Dave's is only a 2 hour drive from me. Very dangerous to live so close!

Hi Mark, the Amp was set as you see on this picture - but the gain knob from the overdrive channel was on 12-O Clock setting for this song.
During the title I switch a lot beetween Pickups on the Les Paul (starting with the neck PU, than Middle/out-of-phase- and later the bridge-PU).

Yea Dave is a very nice guy! he knows about good guitars! Cheers, Gregor

Thanks! I'ts mine. I bought the amp by occasion on the US-ebay with "buy it now" from a japanese collector - a couple of days before we started the recordings for the CD, and one 1 after seeing Robben Ford in my town - very lucky.... Cheers, Gregor

The Speakers are two Celestion Blue Bulldog in a new 2 x 12 Vox Cab. Sounds good!

Hi,

Would you mind sharing technical data about the amp, including gut shots?

Thanks in advance,

Jelle

Sounds killer! I love the out of phase sounds you are getting - reminds me of mark knopfler. Great job!

I think 1983. Serial No is 094 (093 is the Carlos Rios Dumble)
