Footswitch cable

Post by HiGain »

I was thinking of this cable from mouser for the footswitch, 566-8445-100

Link: http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.asp ... _Wildcards

Does this look right to you guys? Does anyone have another source for 5 connector cable?

Also, I'm assuming no grounded shield, yes?

Thanks much!

Link didn't parse right. Which one of all those numbers is the actual catalog number. I'd like to take a look myself.

Thanks to both of you.

Skyboltone: P/N is 566-8445-100 at http://www.mouser.com/

Gil: I'll check it out.

I'm thinking about 25 feet for the footswitch chord.

I tried the Belden wire in my first footswitch ever, since Dumble had used it as well... To me, the Alpha is better. Seems to have a thicker jacket and it certainly feels very nice and round. The Belden looks and feels a little bit like a tape worm, for lack of a better description.

I recently tried some quad mic cable. It's four conductor with a braided shield. Has a nice rubber jacket like typical guitar/mic cables. Worked well and is available locally in small quantities (most pro-audio stores stock it) for about .50 a ft.

McMaster carries a 6-conductor 22AWG wire for 35 cents a foot available in lengths of 10 or 25 feet (or more, of course). What you do with the extra conductor is up to you.
