100 watt HRM nearly finished

Post by Normster »

I just fired it up for the first time tonight. Very quiet! Hats off to Brandon for making the chassis and boards available. (And for answering my dumb questions.)

I'll finish up the FET tomorrow and wire up the LED. For now I'm just happy the thing actually works!

Look Ma, no FET - Very pretty build and I doubt if the output transformer is going to pull through the chassis anytime soon. :D Great looking work.

Thanks, guys!

Heisthl, take a close look at the front view. Those fender washers are holding in a 100 watt Mercury Mag OPT with 2-1/2" lams! Damn thing weighs more than the PT.

Where did you get the small shouldered 1/4" metal beauty washers on the mini toggles?

The beauty washer is just an illusion. It's an ugly star washer.

FYI: mcmaster has some thin stainless washers with a .25"ID that work great as beauty washers for the mini-toggles.

Looks great Norm!

Does anyone know of a source other than angela.com for the 15/32 size beauty washers that fit a toggle switch? The Angela ones are nice, but at $1 each it seems pretty steep for a washer.

EDIT - Sorry for the hijack, I'll start a new thread.

Just a classically beautiful build. Something to shoot for. It's called planning I think. I always put in the last wires first then go backward from there. I got so many extra holes in my Hybrid A they look like lightening holes.

Dan, this one took longer than usual. I spent a lot of time planning the order of assembly and staring incessently at Dumble photos. It was the 80/20 rule...80% thinking about it and 20% actually doing it.

I hear ya, but wouldn't you agree that there is some benefit to doing at least one accurate copy? All my builds since have been better builds.
