Tried the effect loop today..

Post by Tdale »

I haven't tried the send/return jacks on my Hybrid-a amp. The send/return is placed after the Master volume.

I hooked up at multi effect pedal, and heard a ROAR from the speakers. Didn't work at all.

I'm opening up the amp tomorrow, to check the wiring of the jacks. But could it be another reason for this?

Should the sleeves of the send and return jacks be grounded to the chassis? Kind of strange that it makes that much noise, with no signal going through the amp..

Not to suggest the obvious but did you use a shorting jack on the return.
I believe the jacks ground to the chassis.

I looked at it now.

It's wired correctly: wire from center terminal of master volume to the tip of the "out" jack, a wire from there to the shorting tip-terminal on the "in" jack, and a wire from the tip terminal to the PI.

I don't have the optional 100K resistor between the Master volume and the "out" jack...

But none of the jacks are grounded, only wires to the tip terminals... Could this cause the problem, or should it work without grounding the sleeves?

As far as I know the sleeves should be at chassis ground.

Although this is the D'Lite schematic, the sleeve is chassis grounded.

Yes.. I guess sending the signal through 30ft of cable, with the shield not grounded is asking for noise...
