10" to pair with a G1265?

Post by greiswig »

Hi, all,

I've got a 10"-12" cabinet that I'll be playing a D'Lite non-HRM through. I've got a Weber 10A150, but it is actually a 4 ohm speaker so it is drowning out the sound of the g1265. I'm wondering what you guys might guess (or know) would be a good 10" to pair up with the Celestion?

Wow! Really underwhelming response. I would have thought, given the somewhat opinionated nature of this group, there would have been at least one response offered...

I,ve read nearly every post here, can recall very little on 10" speakers at all.
The subject of combining 10" with 12" would be even more rare I guess. My $.02, (other than fender super rev), I don't use 10s.

Yeah, I know it's an unusual combination. I made this cabinet, and the combination of this Weber 10" and a Weber 12" Blue Dog was really nice! Something 10" speakers tend to do to the low mids and on the pick attack is really nice.

Here is an amp in the files section with an Eminence 10" paired with a 12". Down the thread there is a discussion of 10" speakers.

You could always try emailing Weber for a recommendation or ask on his forum?

Yup...I just thought folks here might have a good idea, what with familiarity with this species of amp.

Thanks. That looks like it might be a good choice, although I wish Weber would publish some more specs like sensitivity. Heistl recommends the Eminence Legend, as Stelligan pointed out. But he's using it with a G12-65 copy, which has a 99db sensitivity...close match to the Legend's. The actual G12-65 has a 97db published sensitivity.

That Michigan (edit: the AlNiCo version) is also about 4x the price of the Legend.
