Inspired by my new "I won't post into any *****tone threads" promise, I offer up this little morsel. Recorded this morning. Fuchs SLX50 amp and Hermida Z Cab. Thiele port with G1265 speaker. Royer R121 about 3 feet back and aimed between ports and speaker surround.
I do like the musicallity of the Royer. Much different to my ears than an SM57. Too bad they are over $1000..... Maybe someone can clone them?? LOL. That was a joke....
The take was my first and only take and I was not expecting the unison heavy guitar part. Took me by surprise but I kept on playing anyway.....
Amp is 80s circuit. Recorded dry. Volume on 3 so not too loud. Gain on 1 oclock and OD gain on 11 oclock. Treb 10 oclock, mids 1 oclock, bass 1 oclock.
Now that's how you blow off a little steam! Well...at least I thought I heard a little of that. Some of my best moments have been when I was little tweeked by something...this thing we do can be therapeutic I swear. Sounds great to me.

That was a smokin' take! It was not my favorite tone from you, but your playing was over the top good!
I thought the pick attack was a little harsh sounding, and the balance of the tone a little thin compared to your other amps. Too much sharpness in the upper mid/low treb region, but again - the tone fit the aggressive playing. Maybe my ears are too sensitive to that freq range, since I've punished my ears too much in that range...
Regardless, I like it when you get inspired and/or fired up and hit the record button. Great stuff!

Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...
The treble thing is probably the mix of Royer and the Thiele port cab. The G1265 does have a little spike in this enclosure. I probably should put back the EVM!
Recording is just R121 into mic pre into Adobe Audition.

Do you remember Glen Close in "Fatal Attracttion" and that line "I will not be ignored!"? OK, so here is my question again:
Very cool. Is this 80s as in 220/150 or 100K variety? PAB or no PAB (suspect not)
Sounds great! This take is a little more raw then I'm used to hearing from your clips....but I like it! Are you using the Fender plate/cathode values in this circuit?
LOL! Whoops.... This is higher plates. So yeah.... I think 220/150 200/150??

Not my intent. I never had issue with Nik, per se, just his supporters saying how they are happy he is "pissing all over the ripoff artist boutique builders". Really got under my skin considering many of these guys are productive members here. I really felt compelled to "out" Nik as to exactly where he got all his info from. If he had participated here, I guarantee my lips woudl have been sealed! (or fingers muzzled) LOL
Btw, sources tell me Nik did not discontinue the kit but is backlogged so as a marketing ploy "discontinued" it. Just "contact" him direct if you want one. Honest guy....

I think this may have taken care of itself... saw this on TGP a little while ago. Check the upper right corner announcement...

Try turning the mic around. It's more sensitive to highs on the front side, and less sensitive on the back.
