#183 Rock/Jazz Switch
The layout I have does not jive with the full and partial schematics I have. Which way should it be?
The layout shows one of the A side outer poles connected to the common of the B side. Schematics are different.
My gut says that the schematics are right... It is this way with #124, for example.

technically you are lifting bass and treble pot from the ground and like this creating the boost (no attenuation from tone stack).. so i'm connecting that way, lifting bass + treble

The layout of 183 was posted in 2010 12 years ago and this topic about the wiring of the R/J switch has been discussed here at A.G many times! My gut says that the schematics are right.

Studying the pics of 183 and a Quinn TKT183 as well as being inside a clone of the original TKT183, the wiring is NOT as Shad diagramed it. They are all wired the same as #124. I don't think it makes any difference though FWIW.

Shad told me in a PM when the layout was being diagramed and 183 blueprinted the R/J switch for the layout (double checked) and said that they functioned the same so he probably knew this before anyone here. He thought it was

Can't argue with that
I have read in other posts and forums that TAG says the layout is wrong. I have no idea what he is referring to but I do find it interesting that Shad's own clones were different from the layout and as far as I can tell, 183 was also different.

Is that 183? If it is then you obviously have some shots that have not yet been published here. Can you post the originals of the close up or any others you have here to help verify the switch?. If not then my PM box is open.
Thanks!

Thanks for sharing those! Do you have pics of Shad's clone?

Check the mid switch in the first schematic at the top of the post.

What are you implying about it?Stephen1966 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 8:52 am Check the mid switch in the first schematic at the top of the post.

All four, the two schematics, the layout and then the photos appear to differ. The first, appears closest though I would sift through any other photos to see if there was a clearer shot.dorrisant wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 7:06 pmWhat are you implying about it?Stephen1966 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 8:52 am Check the mid switch in the first schematic at the top of the post.

The 370p cap appears to straddle top and bottom pins in the photo, the line in (RED) and line out (VIO) appear reversed in the layout. The BLU wire, I'm assuming leads to the 4M7 resistor which is part of a high pass filter in combination with the earlier .002 cap on the board. I would be careful about where this is placed, before the 370p cap everyone agrees. The photos are the primary evidence. It can be made to work with the cap straddling the first and third pins. The bottom pin appears congested though if it has the line in, the line to the resistor and one leg of the cap. No shifting of the Fc if it's in that configuration though. Are authors of the schematics and layouts suggesting pragmatic alternatives?
