Planning a 183 conversion with non precision power
About 3 years ago I had started a 124 build that life got in the way of and now that time is more abundant I am able to finish a few things. I was wondering if not having the precision power supply in it would make a difference or not. Anybody have any experience with that or thoughts?

personally I've not found any difference between the two different power supplies . I'm sure there will be a subtle difference but I've not found it to be that noticeable.
the Classic is easier to make if you're doing your own boards.
YMMV

That's what I was thinking. Also, since it's already in there I'm just going to leave it be. Should be able to start it after my 102 resistor swap.

I feel the only difference would be if you used different amounts of filtering and different dropping resistors at each node. If all remain constant, I think the only advantage of the PP is higher voltage rating on the nodes, and the ability to use radials, which tend to be better, cheaper, and smaller than current Axial cap choices.
Speaking of which, does anyone have a good source for 270uF-330uF axials @ 350-400VDC+ that don't cost an arm and a leg? The choices seem to be extremely narrow, even Mouser doesn't really stock these values.

It's true i've lost my marbles and i cant remember where i put them

IMO, you should make clever use of radials. Cheaper, easier to find. Can be placed upside down and wired into your turret board or whatever.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

Mouser has these nichicon, which are a great brand, in the 270 through 330 UF at 400VDCJD0x0 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 12:26 am I feel the only difference would be if you used different amounts of filtering and different dropping resistors at each node.
