Guess that's a "no". Maybe I'll give it a try and report back.

Hi Tim,

What are you planning to use for a mid cap when you switch to the .022uf for bass? Standard Dumble-style TS, or...??

Not sure. I'm planning on making both the treble and mid caps switchable, but I haven't decided whether to install 3-way switches or to just use push-pull pots for the mid and treble controls (I'd prefer switches but I don't have the tools to make the necessary holes). If I go with the three-way mid switch it'll be .05, .02, and .01. If I go with the push-pull pot it'll obviously be two of those three, but I'm not sure which ones.

As for the bass cap, I don't know whether it would be worth making it switchable or if I should just use one or the other. It seems to me that the difference between the two would be great enough that each would require a different value pot to optimize the control range. But then, I don't believe I've ever heard a post-Tweed Fender with a small bass cap, so I don't really know how it would work (hence this thread).

Tim,

The bass cap with the Dumble stack should be pretty-much bandpass (imo). Make it smaller than your mid cap for instance, and the bass control will become a midrange control (and vice-versa!). Now if you are using a Fender/Marshall type stack in your amp, then I could see the value in making the cap switchable.

Listen to a Wreck, The Express uses .02 for bass and Mid with a 100K slope. (there are some clips on youtube)

I tried it in a D with the 150K slope and changed it back to .01/.1 IMMEDIATELY. Not my cup o'tea, your miles may vary.

B,

When you tried 'wreck values, did you rewire the mid pot to be in series with the bass pot? I think it sounds pretty good with a 47k-ish slope res.

This was years ago before I knew about the "BM" amps. I was just experimenting!!

I will try the other flavor at some point, are you using the .001 OD1 coupler? Is it really thin?

Yeah, that one sounds ok to me, as long as you use the rest of the circuit as written (except for the extra cap between OD2 and the ts... I think that one must be a mistake!).
