OT for D-lite

Post by gsb »

I'm new here and I have some questions about D-lite. I`m coming
from Slovenija-Europa and my English is not so good. I have build
some Fender clones with EL84 output section ,and they work well.
What OT must be used ? I would like to use one from ALLEN AMPS
that is beffier ,with option to use 6v6 or 6l6 ? Can I use some standard
Fender OT for 6l6 ? I use as PT always toroid ,what is maximum voltage
for D-lite? Guitar is strat with Eric Clapton mod.(self made) so what version will be optimal (HRM ? ) Thanks for help

FWIW, I used Allen transformers exclusively in my 6L6 D-Clone build. (Basically, Bassman replacement stuff: TP40 power, TO60 output and TRCH choke.) This is NOT a D-Lite kit though... it was a build from scratch. I wouldn't even mention this except I'm not sure homw many others in the forum have used stuff from Allen. I can say that the transformers come well documented, they seem to work well and I haven't had any trouble with them, but due to my lack of experience with different 'iron', I can not say if they are your BEST choice.

I used a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe OT so I could have a 4 & 8 ohm tap. I think it sounds very good & was not very expensive.

Yes. Sounds like a nice find.
