Is the Electro Voice Black shadow that came in Boogie amps the same speaker as an EVM 12L? I'm looking to aquire some speakers to test in my Dumble (to be built) and have found a good deal on a Black Shadow.
Thanks, Mike
PS. I found a couple of Altec 417-8H Series 2 speakers and they sound amazing with my blond and blackface bassmans. I hope they sound as good with a Dumble.

The original's were 12L's. Later on they were Celestion Classic 90's (same as a Classic lead 80).
easy to tell the difference EVM Cast frame, Celestion pressed frame.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. No problem identifying this one as there is an "Electro-Voice" stamp/sticker on the back.

Re: Question about Electro Voice Black Shadow Speaker
I loved the Altec 417 8-H when playing clean, but I much prefer my Celestion G12H-100's for overdriven tones. Lately getting great tones out of a Zendrive into a Demeter VTBP-201 Bass Preamp into a Demeter Power Amp.

Re: Question about Electro Voice Black Shadow Speaker
What did you like better about the Celestion? Was it good enough on the clean chanel to keep it as the overall speaker for the amp?
Has anyone tried a JBL D120F with a Dumble?

Re: Question about Electro Voice Black Shadow Speaker
Hi,
A JBL D120F sounds great with a dumble style amp I think. Maybe a bit bright but very cool....the JBL D series won't hold when pushed, though. The K series perform better and are alnico too, those are my personal favourite. The JBL E series are ceramic speakers and they sound different.
I like the Classic 80 and the EVM-12L in an open back cabinet, too. They will not sound as fendery as the JBL but they very sound good to me. I think the only way to really find out is to try several speakers...
Good luck!
Jelle

Would you consider that the Zendrive into a good quality tube amp like yours is a better choice than owning a actually "Dumble " amp ?
What does the pedal lack ?
Regards
