Re: Brownnote
Very nice......sounds better than the current Journey line up, and your lead singer is MILES above the current Journey frontman. (I miss Steve)
Guitar tones are superb
G
Edit: I was still listening while posting the first time....man, you've got the "separate ways" guitar parts down pat! Thought I was listening to Neil himself (only I doubt he plays it that good anymore)
Again, excellent!

Re: Brownnote
Very nice job! I enjoyed the clip.
I was coerced to see Journey this past year. I used to like them, with Steve Perry of course, but now not so much. Anyone impersonating Steve is pretty much ridiculous IMO. Neil Schon is a dick, but he can still play, and damn well. The problem is Journey was really the Steve Perry band, but he is gone. All that being said, that impersonator can sing his ass off and hit notes that I only thought Steve could hit. They just aren't Journey without the originator of the sound and those songs. The Steve Perry stamp is too strong. Your clips are very good. I am really impressed with the keyboard player and your guitar sound and playing. Really well done. Sorry, but your singer is not MILES ahead of the impersonator, IMO. She just doesn't finish many of the notes like she should/could. Just offering a differing, but honest opinion.

Well, maybe not MILES, but I like her alot better than the guy they've got now. At least she is on key. (Just going by the live clips on utube, not seen them live with him.)vibratoking wrote:Very nice job! I enjoyed the clip.

I suppose it's that I KNOW she isn't SP and isn't trying to be, just singing a cover song very well.
With the SP poser, I just can't listen to him without thinking he's trying too hard to sound like SP and failing.....psycho-acoustic effects, I guess.

Steve Perry not in the original journey

I used to live in the Bay area in the 70's and would go and see Journey all the time in the local clubs. They were a band for years without Steve Perry, and souded dam good! Actually, I was at the gig at The Old Waldorf in San Fransisco when they first introduced Steve Perry. They brought him out for the oncore and I think they played "Lights". The crowd was dead silent after the song. We couldn't believe this awesome progressive rock band just did a comercial top 40 style song. Journey quickly left the stage and ended the concert. We were so dissapointed that Journey went comercial.
The funny thing is that I listen to their stuff with Steve Perry now and I like it. I guess we were just snobs at the time.

This is a vid of my band through the years. The only time I'm using a non HRM is on 2 tickets, the rest is the brownnote blue monkey 88 w/ reverb.
