Progress Report

Post by skyboltone »

Being as how the Normster has completed his third amp since I started mine, I feel compelled to defend myself. Yes I am making progerss. (that's the way LBJ used to say it; "We are making good progerss in Veet Naam")

The second photo is the main reason for the slow progress. The green foam thingy on the little stool is where I sit with my knees up around my ear lobes. My head touches the ceiling. That's a Detroit Diesel 4-53 in the background. There's another just like it on the other side.

The chassis innards are at the grounding stage. I put in the flower petal/Starr ground and everything gets it's own wire back to that point. Following that step I'll go after the pot/switch wiring and the sockets before installing Mr. circuit board.

I'm getting there.

Oh yea, I almost forgot. Don't waste your time on used crap. My power transformer came out of a big Hammond Organ amp and is good quality but the savings were an insignificant portion of the total bill.

Yargh matey, Yer postin' from the bilge! I'll bet you get some sympathetic rattles down there. The upper wheel cover on my bandsaw is tuned to G# and the overhead fluorescent shield likes cowboy chords. I never really know how my amps sound until they come up from the basement. Have fun! Skip

Looks mighty good so far! But man, you've GOT to find a better place to work!!! My lonely little corner of the garage looks like paradise compared to that. (Actually, my "workbench" is a Black & Decker Workmate.)
