unbuffered effects loop?

Post by Tdale »

I'm concidering to not add the Preamp-out / Power amp-in jacks on the back. Do you think I should include it?

Do you use the passive effect loop much? Most guitarists I know, don't use a effects loop, but put their effects before the preamp..

I included the passive loop in my build and use a Boss rv2 pedal. I like reverb ( and most FXs) after the preamp stages, sounds smoother to my ears.

Do you use shielded cable from the master volume to the send/return jacks, and back to the PI input?

My build used the 70s style chassis which doesn't have a global master on the front panel. I used the HybridA schem/layout and installed the master
vol under the chassis at the rear of the amp between the PI and 1st power tube. Didn't need shielded cable as the wire runs were very short and don't have a problem with noise/hum ect. If your master is on front panel I would check with others who have built similar and check the photos of original amps available on this forum as a guide.
hope it helps

I put them in mine so I could add the Reverb-o-loop later. I recommend using isolated jacks and grounding them on the main buss. sh
