I'm working on a scratch build and i've looked at the 124 layout and a ceriatone layout.
I'm confused by the switching system as the boards look more like circuit boards. How do you make those boards? Is there source to buy them?
Don't laugh, but this is where I am on this. I feel like I am in way over my head on this part of the build and I'm beginning to think that I should just build this without any switching at all.
Agree on buying them if you can. FWIW, I've made my own nonPCB boards and what works best for me is to use a socket like you're doing but don't mount it directly in eyelets. Drill small holes in your board for the eyelets to go through and then bend the prongs across the bottom of the board into eyelets for your connections. Hope that made sense.
At first glance the relay setup on the ODS amps can be overwhelming but it is pretty simple once you put it together.
The best way to switch the relays on seems to be having the switches make or break the ground connection to the relays.
So you feed them your 5-12vdc (whatever your power source) have your quenching diode across the coil (to prevent noise) and the have the ground go to your switches, be it front panel or footswitch.
If I recall, the Ceriatone has the overdrive normally on, in other words, when the relay is not energized, the OD is on.
I suppose to minimise noise.
I think they also complete the circuit to ground to activate their relays.
You can do it that way or the Dumble way.
