It's been so hot this month I haven't ventured out to the garage to put this together yet. Hardware is mounted, boards are built, but it's just too freakin' hot to get out there and solder.
Normster, it's such a good lookin' layout I think I'll print it out and frame it. Maybe even enter it into an art competition somewhere, sure to pick up a prize. I know it's certainly on my list to build.
Thanks Normster:
This is indeed a wonderful piece of work.

Please keep us informed, can't wait till it comes into form. I also am avoiding the garage 103 in So. OR today and a ton of guitar repairs to be done. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
I just got my hands on PT, OT, and choke that would be perfect for a 6V6 ODS, plus some nice old USA 6V6 and 12AX7. I might give this a try, albeit with a SS rectifier to get a little headroom.
I use Visio for the layouts. Actually, the artistic side of the layout only comes out when I'm having design problems. It seems to help me think if I "doodle" with the shapes. Must be a left brain/right brain thing.
There are JPG and Visio files if you're interested. There's also a work in progress based on Gil's #124 pics. I hope to have that finished in the next few weeks as time (and focus) permits.
So what iron are you using, Norm? In my experience with blackface Princetons (just sold my last one this past year), the OT was the weak link. A lil' more beef (aka Deluxe Reverb) OT, was instant gratification for increasing clean headroom. The rest of the Princeton's weaknesses are already covered in your circuit. Nice work!

Thanks, Zippy. For this build I'm using Trainwreck iron from Moose. (Toneslut trannys wound by Heyboer.) I really liked the power and articulation in my Express so I'm hoping some of that will translate over to the Dumble side.
I changed the tone stack and switching to match #124. It seems to work better with this particular amp. The Deep switch sounded kinda woofy but changing it to a Mid Boost ROCKS!
I still haven't built the FET but everything else works great as shown on the diagram. The only concern I have left is the foot switch. My relay board is putting out 18VDC with no load, 12VDC with one relay activated and 9 VDC with both relays activated. I don't know what effect the LEDs will have on this voltage drop. If it becomes a problem, I'll wire it for higher voltage and use a voltage regulator.
Hi Normster,
Great lookin' Layout.
Are your relays wired in series?
On my build the voltages are similar and are wired in parallel. I have 18v unloaded , 9.98v loaded with both activated ( used a 270R/1watt dropping resistor on each relay). The relays I used have a working voltage of 8v-24v and seem to work fine. Perhaps the leds load it down a touch more.
Should I be concerned at not having the voltages closer to 12v?
