Thanks 10thtx, I have just put together the parts for this build, so it is much appreciated10thTx wrote:It was pointed out that "Mat's 86 Special layout" and the "86 Special Duet layout" had an error on how the plate cap was hooked up on the EF86.
I corrected both layouts in this thread. However, please compare the schematics with the layouts of each and CHECK for ERRORS!
With respect, 10thtx

Re: miniHRM evolution
Hey guys, loved mat's clip. that sound is awesome. I've been wanting to build something with an EF86 for quite some time. I think that is just the coolest tube.
edited...re read through the thread. I will use the 86 special schematic and layout. should be good enough. Does anyone have any guts they want to post?
Comments on the complexitiy of this build? This will be my second. I'm pretty sure I can handle it, but wanted to know degree of difficulty so i know what to prepare for. (how long to tell my wife how many weeks on end i will be in the basement workshop for)

Re: miniHRM evolution
SICK tone....the Dumble/Marshall vibe is definately there... Great clarity on the higher notes and the harmonics are nice and exaggerated with the delay.mat wrote:Here is a (mindless noodling) clip of the guitar by itself. No after editing, just the Boss delay on the loop.

I'll get back to the EF86 values asap.
Mat you are one great player.

Re: miniHRM evolution
Hey Mat, can you tell me if the voltages are similar to the ones on the schematic drawn by Colossal for the miniHRM? Has there been any mods or tweaks? Is the power supply still the same?
https://tubeamparchive.com/files/mts_mini_hrm_190.pdf
The reason I ask is that on the new 86 special schematic there is a 325V over the C in the power supply section.......
Thanks

thanks for bringing up Colossal's schemo, I had a look at it and saw that I hadn't included the parts for the HRM board...
I will go over that properly tomorrow and update my BOM, thanks and keep up the "eyes on" please
Re: miniHRM evolution
Mat,
If you see anything that needs updating in the Mini HRM schematic, let me know.
Thanks. Great job on the 86 Special, another excellent sounding amp.

Re: miniHRM evolution
Sorry, don't remember the miniHRM voltages. I don't have that amp anymore. That amp is now the 86-Special.NEjoe wrote:Hey Mat, can you tell me if the voltages are similar to the ones on the schematic drawn by Colossal for the miniHRM? Has there been any mods or tweaks? Re: miniHRM evolution
Hi Colossal, my miniHRM amp is now 86-Special so no updates for the miniHRM.Colossal wrote:Mat,

I strongly suggest to build the 86-Special (with Eminence Delta Pro 12A speaker) instead of the miniHRM. The 86 is the most enjoyable amp that I have played. Not a dumble style but more rock and roll amp. Much more easier to play than dumble style amps IMO.
I played the 86 today at the band rehearsals with my nonHRM. Both amps on simultaneously. Very interesting sounds

Re: miniHRM evolution
So if you don't mind me asking......what are the voltages on the 86 special?
Re: miniHRM evolution
I'll check them for You asap. Might take a week or so. Working 13/24 6/7 just now.NEjoe wrote:So if you don't mind me asking......what are the voltages on the 86 special?

Re: miniHRM evolution
Thanks...........the numbers aren't adding up for me in the EF86 area.
The voltages listed on the EF86 seem to be a bit higher than what would be achieved with a 269EX transformer (or a 200-0-200 toroid).
Your work schedule sounds like........well, too much for me. Whenever you get a chance is fine.
Thanks again.

Re: miniHRM evolution
The toroid of my amp does not have the specs or name or anything. The company I bought it from does not sell them any moreNEjoe wrote:Thanks...........the numbers aren't adding up for me in the EF86 area.

Hey mat,
fantastic sound!
Thanks for sharing your design!
How does it sound if feed the OD into the power amp of your nonHRM?
Sorry if this has already been asked (and answered).
Peace
