Re: *New Build Thread* 2nd Gen Hybrid 50w footswitchable FET
So this would mean that my problem is somewhere at V1 or V2 right? PI/Power Tubes are OK?
Are there positions for R/J,mid boost, and brite switches to take them out of the circuit??

More likely the signal is grounded out by accident or some wiring error in the relays. I don't think you can kill the signal with any combination of the switches unless they are miss-wired.

Your missing the connection between the treble (wiper) pot to input vol?

If you're getting significant noise when you touch preamp plates (not little sizzles, but pretty big "static" or pops) then you need to verify your relay wiring. Also send a jumper from the volume wiper to the "power amp in" jack and see if you have signal through the tone stack.
Basically, since you know the power amp works, send it signals from different points in the preamp until you don't get a signal.
Be careful!

Tony, you are the man!! Amp is up and running. Great eyes man. We have music!!!!
Now I'll be able to sleep tonight.
Great to have another one of these!! This took most of June to build.
The amp sounds killer and I haven't even turned it up yet. Man you were not kidding about the 2nd gens...or NOS parts!
I gotta figure out this "clean master" because it's the only knob that doesn't work!
Thank you all for the help!!

Beautiful amp Taylor. Those NOS parts sure look purdy, bet they sound purdy too!
Re: *New Build Thread* 2nd Gen Hybrid 50w footswitchable FET
Glad you got it working. I'm gonna have to go on an old-resistor search.

Ok with help from ToneMerc I was able to get my clean master working!! This is a really cool feature to have as it allows for really nice volume matching between the channels, and you can leave the volume control alone after you've dialed it in for the amount of gain you want in your OD.
Very nice sounding amp!! I went through a bunch of tubes and have my voltages around 180 for V1 and 196-200 for V2, PI is at 300 and 285 or so.
ended up with an RCA greyplate in V1, blackburn mullard in V2, and a sylvania 12AT7 in V3.
I think the layout is correct, I must have had a dry joint or a wrong connection...I drew up this diagram for anyone thinking about going after this one...it's nice being able to put it in a CE chassis.
I'll get some clips recorded once I find the voice of the amp. It is raw and edgy, not as smooth as my 102. The cleans are really nice!! I still need to wire in the FET and seems like the PAB might need some tweaking too!
Great news the layout has been proven!!

Re: *New Build Thread* 2nd Gen Hybrid 50w footswitchable FET
What is the origin of this separate master arrangement? Did Dumble use it or is it a modification by someone else?
Re: *New Build Thread* 2nd Gen Hybrid 50w footswitchable FET
Doesn't the Bluesmaster have a clean master?

BM is an HRM, and based on the various available schematics, all HRM's have separate masters. I'm wondering about non-HRM's with separate masters.
